How to prepare a vehicle for sale

You are ready to sell your vehicle, but is the vehicle ready? Is it clean, safe, and you don’t need to apologize for it?

A vehicle cannot help how old it is, or how many miles it has on it, but you absolutely can make sure that it is clean! Whether you do it yourself or have it professionally cleaned and detailed, this can make a huge difference in people’s perception of the vehicle and it’s value. Keep it clean and trash and clutter free while trying to sell.

Is the vehicle safe to drive? If it’s not a fixer-upper then it should be in good running driving condition to the best of your knowledge and ability. If you can take care of any servicing, check engine lights, windshield cracks, flat or balding tires before selling, that is the best thing. If you are not able to then you need to disclose these things and be sure the showing and selling of the vehicle doesn’t put anyone in danger unncesessarily. However, if the vehicle is going to sell at a live auction, it is highly recommended that you take care these things before it crosses the block.

Make sure you don’t need to apologize for the vehicle- it’s not a good look when you are trying to sell it for the most money possible!
