Pro Tips for Selling a Vehicle Through Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction
Timeline/Overview of Consignment Process
1. Preliminary Consignment Request
At least 60-90 days before the auction, you will need to submit a complete Preliminary Consignment Request for each vehicle you would like to have considered for the sale: app, description, title copies, photos, VIN photo and current odometer photo.
2. Confirm Lot Placement
Approximately 30-60 days before the sale, Barrett-Jackson will reach out to confirm the Lot placement, day, approximate time and Lot fee associated with that time. Vehicle’s value determines the placement. There is no cost or obligation until you confirm. Catalog heads to print around this time.
3. Consignment Agreement & Title
Once you have confirmed a Lot #, an official Consignment Agreement will be sent via Docusign along with transfer of ownership documents to sign and turn in with the title before the auction. Title should be clean and lien free at that time.
4. Vehicle arrives on site at the auction
A handful of days prior to the sale, the vehicle can arrive on site. It will be checked in and parked in it’s display spot. It should arrive with all property and paperwork that goes with the vehicle. Transportation is at the discretion of the seller.
5. Display and crossing the block
The vehicle will be on display until it crosses the block. Vehicles are parked based on logistics. Owners/representatives are encouraged to be with the vehicle as much as they’d like, to answer questions.
6. Proceeds check
Per the agreement, upon a successful sale, Barrett-Jackson receives 8% of the hammer price and will mail out proceeds within 21 business days from the last day of the sale. Generally sent FedEx two-day with tracking to address on record.
